چکیده

We discuss a method of solving the time dependent Schrödinger equation for atoms with two active electrons in a strong laser field, which we used in a previous paper [ A. Scrinzi and B. Piraux, Phys. Rev. A 56, R13 (1997) ] to calculate ionization, double excitation and harmonic generation in Helium by short laser pulses. The method employs complex scaling and an expansion in an explicitly correlated basis. Convergence of the calculations is documented and error estimates are provided. The results for Helium at peak intensities up to 10W/cm and wave length 248nm are accurate to at least 10 %. Similarly accurate calculations are presented for electron detachment and double excitation of the negative hydrogen ion.

Analysis of two-dimensional high-energy photoelectron momentum distributions in the single ionization of atoms by intense laser pulses

We analyzed the two-dimensional 2D electron momentum distributions of high-energy photoelectrons of atoms in an intense laser field using the second-order strong field approximation SFA2 . The SFA2 accounts for the rescattering of the returning electron with the target ion to first order and its validity is established by comparing with results obtained by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger...

Effects of intense laser pulse properties on wake field acceleration in magnetized plasma: Half-Sine Shape (HSS) and Gaussian Shape (GS) pulses

In this paper, we have simulated the excitation of wake fields in the interaction of an intensive laser pulses having Half-Sine and Gaussian time envelopes with a fully ionized cold plasma using particle in cell (PIC) method. We investigated the dependency of wake filed amplitude to different laser and plasma parameters such as laser wavelength, pulse duration and electron number density. In ad...

Two-dimensional electron momentum spectra of argon ionized by short intense lasers: Comparison of theory with experiment

We studied the two-dimensional electron momentum spectra of Ar by femtosecond intense laser pulses with mean wavelength from 400 nm to 800 nm, to compare with experimental results of Maharjan et al. J. Phys. B 39, 1955 2006 . At the higher intensities we found that the effects of ground-state depletion and laser-focus volume are very important such that the peak laser field strength is not reac...

Free Electrons Generation in the Interaction of Intense Laser Pulses with Atomic Clusters

The production of electrons from individual atoms through multi-photon and tunnel ionization has been thoroughly studied in the recent years. The experiments on laser interactions with atomic clusters have suggested that the laser–cluster interaction is more energetic than that of isolated atoms. Efficient generation of highly-charged atomic ions [1–5], generation of electrons and ions with MeV...

Strong-field ionization of clusters using two-cycle pulses at 1.8 μm

The interaction of intense laser pulses with nanoscale particles leads to the production of high-energy electrons, ions, neutral atoms, neutrons and photons. Up to now, investigations have focused on near-infrared to X-ray laser pulses consisting of many optical cycles. Here we study strong-field ionization of rare-gas clusters (103 to 105 atoms) using two-cycle 1.8 μm laser pulses to access a ...
